What it is
Beyond the six families almost every home picks from, a handful of floors solve specific problems. Sheet vinyl is one waterproof piece, the cheapest and most seamless bathroom or laundry floor. Epoxy is a coating over concrete for garages and basements. Polished concrete and terrazzo are floors you build a house around, not floors you put in one. VCT and carpet tile are commercial products that get rated here for completeness and never recommended for a living room.

Installation
Sheet vinyl is glued or loose-laid by a pro who can pattern-match a seam. Epoxy is mostly slab preparation: grinding, patching, a moisture test, then the coating. The rest are specialist trades.
Durability
Epoxy and terrazzo are among the hardest surfaces here. Sheet vinyl wears like other vinyl, and a torn seam is a repair, not a replacement.
Water resistance
Every one of these is waterproof or close to it. That is usually why they are chosen.
Maintenance
Sweep and mop. Epoxy needs recoating when it dulls; terrazzo and polished concrete need periodic sealing.
